About Paihia

If you want to explore the Bay of Islands, Paihia is a good place to start. From the wharf, you can catch a ferry to Russell, do a fishing expedition, or explore the outer islands. You can go on kayaking tours, watch the dolphins, or even take a cruise to the tip of Cape Brett and see the hole in the rock. There is a lovely waterfall and boardwalk just west of Paihia at Haruru. The historic Treaty House at Waitangi is close by which marks the beginning of New Zealand as a nation.
